Revolves around the lives of Ukrainian teenagers in a secondary school class. The teenagers struggle with bullying, including the Blue Whale Challenge, lack of parental support, suicidal behavior, LGBT identity crises-a subject that is rarely portrayed on Ukrainian television-alcoholic parents, and speech disabilities. In one of the show's main plot lines, the main characters are stalked on the Internet by an anonymous person who pretends to be their friend.

The events of the series’ first season take place at a Ukrainian school and begin on September 1. A new student arrives at the school. The school year proceeds as usual until the school is shaken by the suicide of a student. No one knows what caused it, since not even a suicide note was found at the scene. Investigator Olga Makarova tries to determine whether the girl took her own life or was deliberately pushed off the roof of a high-rise building. In the course of her investigation, she uncovers terrifying secrets hidden by students, teachers, parents, and even her own son. Meanwhile, children from completely different families, of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, find themselves entangled in the story surrounding their classmate’s death, but are unable to tell their parents anything. The new student and other students at her new school fall under the influence of a mysterious character known as “The Friend,” who turns out to be the main antagonist.
